We will have the agenda for each day up on the website the night before at the very latest, so check back here to see what our campers will be up to.
Indian Point Young Naturalist Club Camp 2: July 25th- 29th, 2011

8:30am-9:00am | Arrival, Registration, and Sea Smoothie Making (Group 1) | Campers arrive, put backpacks on deck and lunches in fridges, wash their hands; choose their sea-smoothie for the day with Arielle; smoothies are put in freezer. Mikaela gives out name tags and magnifying glasses while Scott does registration (also finds out how many parents are coming on boat cruise), Mandai introduces the bubble-makers, explains aquarium critters, and sets up an ocean movie while we wait for the 2nd group of campers to arrive. | |
9:00am-9:30am | Arrival, Registration, and Sea Smoothie Making (Group 2) | Repeat above for Group 2. | |
9:30am-10:00am | Tour of BIO and Orientation | Rules are explained (including a warning about the sugar anthills!), nature journals are handed out Underwater camera is explained- each camper gets to use it for half a day, and Sophie is first. | |
10:00am – 10:15am | Snack | Campers eat; Staff set up underwater scope activity | |
10:15am – 11:00am | Underwater Scopes/ Big Dock Walk | Campers use the washroom and then walk to B.I.O with their backpacks. Half the campers do underwater scopes with Arielle and Mandai; the other half go to the Big Dock with Mikaela and Scott. The groups switch at 10:45am. | |
11:00am- 11:30am | Treasure Buckets | Treasure buckets are explained and the campers decorate their own, | |
11:15am- 12:00pm | As they finish the buckets they work with Arielle and Mandai to prep their T-shirts for tie dying. Once finished, they can help add creatures to the B.I.O. aquarium. | ||
12:00pm– 12:45pm | Lunch | Campers eat while watching Treasure Island; Arielle and Mandai prep water and dye for T-shirts. Sophie gives camera to Jarrett. | |
12:30pm- 1:00pm | The Human Knot | When campers are done eating, they play Human knot with Mikaela and Scott. | |
1:00pm- 1:30pm | Stormy Seas/ Tie Dying | Campers Play stormy seas with Scott and Mikaela and are taken a few at a time to dye shirts with Mandai and Arielle. | |
1:30- 2:30pm | Beach time down by BIO | Campers are given free time on the beach to swim, take pictures, explore, collect treasures in their treasure buckets, and race hermit crabs! *If it’s rainy, the campers will be doing a craft inside B.I.O | |
2:00pm | Tie-Dying Follow-Up (Staff only) | Arielle and Mandai must go back to cottage to prepare the 2nd colours of dye and then switch the T-shirts into their 2nd colours. | |
2:50pm-3:00pm | Return to Cottage and Pick Up | Campers return to cottage and eat Sea-Smoothie Pops Campers not registered in the After Camp Program are picked up. | |
3:00pm- 5:00pm | After Camp Program | Campers registered in the After Camp Program return to BIO for various activities. | |
